Cheap flights to Kenya, other places to find airplane tickets...

You will find a section dedicated to vacations and holidays at discount prices to Kenya in the travel section of your Sunday Newspaper. There is a downside with this, and that is that not all of the adverts are from legitimate businesses, so beware of this fact and check that the company you are looking to book through is listed with the relevant travel authorities wherever you happen to live.

Another tip to use when paying for a discounted air ticket is to use your credit/charge card if you can. This is because, in the unfortunate event of a cancellation or other unforeseen problem, you can ask for your money back.

Short Guide to Kenya

If wanting to come and experience one of the greatest safaris in the world then there is only one real destination for you, that is the country of Kenya. Rumoured to be the inspiration behind the cartoon known as the lion King, this country has a variety of wildlife to observe. The Safari is the most popular attraction in the whole of Kenya, however, this land has much more to offer than just that.

There are beautiful beaches to explore, with numerous water activities to enjoy, and for the more adventurous souls, the mountain ranges offer quite a challenge for those hikers amongst you.

Kenya is located at the heart of the equator and offers a unique experience for the traveller. The landscape includes numerous parks and resorts and the majestic Mount Kenya resides overland which is primarily covered by thorn trees and grassland. The major attraction is the Valley known as the great rift, here you will find numerous species of birds.

To the western side of the country you will find beaches teeming with beautiful coral reef. The people within this country have a long and proud history. Tribes have inhabited these regions for centuries and have maintained to a remarkable degree their indigenous cultures. The Masai tribe are particularly famous for their tall appearance and their traditional red clothing.

Tourism is amongst one of the most major economic factors which helps the country of Kenya, there are two important cities which control the tourist industry within this country. First of all there is Nairobi, which is actually the capital. Hiking trips and safaris begin from this part of the country. The other important city is that known as Mombasa, it is from here that the visitors who are looking more for beaches and sea resorts head off.

Due to the fact that Kenya is heavily reliant on the tourist industry, prices can be extremely high and it is not unlikely for you to be harassed by people selling guides and mementos in an effort to have you part with as much money as possible.

Despite the problems in this country, including the poverty which affects a sizeable part of the population, Kenyan people are warm and friendly and this destination will leave you with magical memories of a country you will want to visit again. It is without a doubt one of the top holiday destinations in the whole of Africa.

Here are a few tips as to when you are out and about in Kenya. When entering a restaurant or a cafe it is likely that your bill will include a 10% service charge. If not however, tipping is not a necessary custom. It may be wise to carry around small amounts of local currency to offer waiters and porters. This would be particularly commendable on safaris, as many of the people employed to work on such trips rely on these donations to actually get by.
