Nicaragua Flights - A short guide. After years of swinging left and right, opposing opinions have finally given way to the true beauty of this country. But while peace has reigned for twenty years, Nicaragua has yet to rid itself of the reputation of violence that lingers. Hopefully the potential it holds to become a prime tourist destination will fulfil itself. A handful of lucky tourists have already discovered the geographical marvels this country hides and the word is starting to get around. Just north of Costa Rica, Nicaragua coasts on both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. An intricate web of rivers connects the two to a freshwater lake that stretches nearly 100 miles (150km) long. This lengthy body of water called Lago de Nicaragua is home to a surprisingly large population of sharks. Plenty of lava fields compete with the erosive temper of the ocean waves, continually replenishing what is worn away with a fresh run of smouldering lava. While the lowlands are overrun by rainforests, the highlands open up to the sky with one wondrous mountain peak after another. The by-product of these majestic summits is some of the world’s finest coffee. They are also home to fascinating animal life. On the west coast, sea turtles lays their eggs in the sands of warm beaches which later come to life as millions of hatchlings make their treacherous way to the sea. In the jungles, elusive jaguars stalk their prey while three-toed sloths go about their day high above in the tangle of branches. Wonders await you at every turn.
