Jersey Flights - A short guide.

Known for its lengthy and hot summers, and relatively warm winters, Jersey attracts a good number of tourists. Only nine miles long and five miles wide, or 14 by 8 kilometres, this small island is the biggest among the British Channel Islands. Sitting right in the English Channel, it was once considered as part of France. Though small in acreage, this island has been big on influence. Not only did this island spawn Jersey dairy cows, but it made popular the knitted sweaters that also carry the island's name.

These days, the history and beauty of this island attract many tourists. The rugged coastline, beautiful beaches and mesmerizing cliffs contrast sharply with the inland landscape enticingly laced with lanes where pedestrians, equestrians and cyclists have priority over motorized vehicles.

Using your preferred mode of transportation, wander at a leisurely pace along these lanes. You'll find treasures such as quaint farmhouses, fine food and remnants of Jersey 's French history in the way of street names and neat fields. British aspects are otherwise rampant. St. Helier, the capital, is an excellent town to explore on foot. Take take advantage of the shopping opportunities offered and keep in mind the low duty rate and no V.A.T.

Once a day, from Elizabeth Castle, you'll hear the booming sound of the noonday gunfire. Make sure you take the time to make your way up to view St. Aubin's Bay and visit the museum.

You also shouldn't miss the German Underground Hospital . And the Jersey Zoo ensures a great day to be had for the whole family. Founder and animal lover, Gerald Durrell, created this refuge for endangered animals. The park ensures visitors leave enlightened and inspired by their day spent among such magnificent animals.
