Expedia Flights Review – Price Analysis and Evaluation

Expedia is one of the most visited travel agents online at the moment. According to Hitwise it recently nudged Thomson off the top spot and now ranks as the most visited travel agent website in the UK. It enjoys 6.12% of travel agent market share in the United Kingdom and 13.36% in the USA.

In this article we look at the value that Expedia flights provides and whether or not it is always the best source to turn to when looking for the cheapest online flight deals.

We reviewed Expedia flight results on a few test routes against those provided by other travel agents and comparison sites.

We tested 3 routes – 1 short haul, 1 long haul and 1 multi city flight route:

Here are our findings:

The following prices were found on Expedia, Lastminute.com, Skyscanner and Kelkoo respectively:

Lastminute.com: £90.98 – again flying with Monarch (available to buy)

We Tested One Multi City Flight Route:

London to Orlando from 4th to 11th August– Orlando to Los Angeles from 11th August – Los Angeles to London 18th August

Expedia: £901.05 – flying with Delta (available to buy)
Lastminute.com: £988.55 – flying with Delta (available to buy)
Ebookers – £987.05 – flying with American Airlines – (available to buy)
Travelocity – £988.55 – flying with Delta (available to buy)

In conclusion –

Our Expedia flights review reveals that the travel giant does not always come up with the best price on single route short haul and long haul flights. Comparison sites such as Skyscanner and Kelkoo almost always do a better job on these routes.

However, on multi city flight routes Expedia can sometimes land you a great deal. It beat the other agents comprehensively on our multi city route test.

We conclude that it is always best to check a few different sites and not only Expedia to be sure you are finding the absolute best online deals.

In fact – it was this very reason which that prompted us to develop the flight search engine you see at Cheapflightsfinder.com.

We allow you to compare the best online travel agents and comparison sites in seconds and see prices from each travel agent and comparison site side by side.

Our search includes Skyscanner, Kelkoo, Expedia, Lastminute and many many more. We offer comprehensive flight comparison on single flights and multi leg trips so you can always be sure of getting the best available flight.
